- Duphalac contains a laxative called lactulose. This softens stools by attracting water into the intestine, facilitating their passage. The laxative is not absorbed into your body.
What is DUPHALAC used for:
- Duphalac is used to treat constipation (unusual bowel movements, hard and dry stools) to soften stools. For example: if you have hemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistulas, anal abscesses, solitary ulcers, or after anorectal surgery.
Duphalac is used to treat hepatic encephalopathy, also called portosystemic encephalopathy (a liver disease that causes difficulty thinking, tremors, decreased level of consciousness, including coma).
